Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (Short Review)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I consider myself an emotional reader and I am unapologetic when it comes to owning up my feelings, so when I got this book and everyone and their mum were all about “How this book broke them” I was like let’s see what all the hype was about…

To my very surprise, this book was the right amount of cheesy and chick-lit, it wasn’t as romance-heavy as I thought; It actually featured such colourful characters with some heavy realistic life issues, with a cool sense of British humour.

Lou was such a weird quirky character, whose flare for the normal life was comforting to see, she also was surprisingly relatable with the way she refuses to conform to adulating and stepping out of one’s own comfort zone. Her over-zealous personality made the book for me and her character developed when she finally stepped out of herself and faced life and in away offered a very important lesson that I appreciate.

My overall experience with the book was amazing, filled with laughter, tears, anger and so many emotions

Definitely recommend even if you don’t like the genre try it out it may surprise you :).

Thank you for reading 🙂

  1. I loved that book, and agree with you that it isn’t as romantic as it looks like the film is going to be. I cried from about half way through though!

      1. I think it’s one where I won’t see the film because it might spoil a great book. And I’m not sure I can cope with the ending on film! Too many tears!

  2. I really loved that this story started out humorous and lighthearted but ended up being a more important read with an unconventional romance. Also the companionship between Lou and Will was so believable. I agree, it’s such an emotional rollercoaster all the while being a great balance of entertainment!
