2016 Honourable Mentions (Favourite Books-Edition) #RunnersUp

It’s that time of the year where the majority of blogs will bombard you with favourites and try to convince you to try out various Blogs, Music, Books and all other things that made it for them in 2016. I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy this sort of post because it’s always a treat to see people genuinely excited about things and I am more inclined to pick up something if it comes highly recommended. Regardless, this post is just close to the favourite list in which I am going to speak about books that were amazing but didn’t make it to the TOP LIST, so stick around and prepare to be introduced to the HONORABLE MENTION BOOKS that should be on your shelves.

I have been very good and disciplined about buying books this year * basically broke and should be living in a box on the street*. I have however narrowed down the number of unread books on my shelf from 25 to like 12 books and that just makes me feel so accomplished because most of the people I know have like 100 books on their TBR…

Leaving Now

From the 12 books on my shelf, I have 7 that I am so excited for. Like I smile every time I see them staring at me from my shelf just shouting

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

β€œThey say, Find a purpose in your life and live it. But, sometimes, it is only after you have lived that you recognize your life had a purpose, and likely one you never had in mind.”

This book was beyond what I can put to words, like the amount of character depth, thought provoking themes that shaped my view on the world at large, culturally rich and tasteful writing to say the least. It broke me and shaped my perspectives.
